This base for placing cupcakes or any dessert in general comes quite resistant, it is made of a bone china in a shiny finish. The accessories give it an elegant touch once you assemble it. It does not include an instruction manual but it is quite easy and quick to assemble and take apart. The base once assembled is quite light and I think you could give it another different use, such as placing accessories, for example.
